How to report abuse Ontario Association of Childrens Aid Societies October is Child Abuse Prevention Month in Ontario. This year, forty-four Children's Aid Societies in Ontario plan to participate this year in the Purple Ribbon Campaign, a public awareness program for the prevention of child abuse and neglect throughout the month of October. The goals of the awareness program are: The Canadian Centre for Abuse Awareness Exists to provide accessible support, healing and individual empowerment for survivors, children, families and caregivers and to eliminate child abuse through advocacy, education, public awareness, and prevention programs by creating community and corporate partnerships. Canadians Against Child Abuse Society C.A.C.A.S is a nationally registered charitable organization which provides assistance to families, friends, relatives, and victims of child abuse. C.A.C.A.S works closely with police agencies by passing on information that helps to locate wanted individuals. Canadian Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children The CSPCC's focus is on the long-term consequences of inadequate care of very young children. Our objective is to try to change those things in Canadian society that make it difficult for parents to give their children the care they need to grow into healthy, confident, non-violent, happy adults. The centre provides a safe place for kids to meet and hang out in the Chatham-Kent region. Those that stop by can be assured of a place that is free from drugs, alcohol, violence and abuse. Through the building of friendships, we seek to develop opportunities to reach out and help the youth with the difficulties they face. Ontario Association of Residences Treating Youth OARTY is a provincial network of children's residential services. We represent more than 63 agencies and over 2,200 residential beds for children across Ontario. OARTY provides residential care and treatment for children and youth who are physically and sexually abused, emotionally disturbed, developmentally challenged, autistic, medically fragile, young offenders, dually diagnosed, conduct disordered, psychiatrically disordered and other hard to serve children and youth.
The Council for the Prevention of Child Abuse of Windsor and Essex County (CPCA) is a non-profit charitable organization that was established in 1984 and has delivered education and prevention initiatives to children, parents, service providers, and the community at large over the years. Ontario Network of Sexual Assault/Domestic Violence Treatment Centres The law states that a child is not in a position to give consent to sexual activity. Child sexual abuse occurs when a child is used for sexual purposes by an adult or adolescent. It involves exposing a child to any sexual activity or behaviour. Examples include where a child is encouraged, coerced, forced or enticed into such acts as sexual molestation, fondling, sexual intercourse, fellatio, cunnilingus, exhibitionism, or any form of sexual exploitation such as juvenile prostitution or pornography. The Centre of Excellence for Child Welfare The Centre of Excellence for Child Welfare encourages collaborative projects that integrate child maltreatment prevention and interventions across a variety of sectors, including health care, education, justice and recreation.
Toronto Child Abuse Centre promotes cooperation among health, legal, child protection, child care and education systems and advocates for improved responses to child abuse. The organization provides a range of unique services to abused children and their families through its prevention, legal and treatment programs.
First Nations Child and Family Caring Society of Canada The Society offers research (over 800 First Nations' specific items) and information on policy, professional development, and networking. The Society also publishes an online journal. links to programs that provide information and/or interventions for individuals and/or families who are coping with the trauma arising from child abuse. Child abuse includes abandonment, neglect, or emotional, physical or sexual abuse by a parent, guardian, or other family or extended family member whom the child trusts and who is in a position of power over the child. The Children‘s Aid Society accepts reports that a child is or may be in need of protection.
